Yesterday the All England Club at Wimbledon was taking a hard line, but by this morning the policy of hiring marksmen to shoot pigeons above the courts was abandoned.

And on this side of the kinder and gentler world the Faribanks Borough Council yesterday passed a resolution that the animal shelter may refrain from immediately euthanizing sick or underage animals (puppies and kittens less than 8 weeks). They will be available for adoption.
